Past (Hammer, Maja)
I've always been into computer graphics, but for the most part its been 2D. My first look into the world of the 3D, was a Raytrace program for the Amiga (it feels like seleveral generations ago). Later (much later) I got into mapping with Hammer (mostly for Swat4), and it was great fun making maps and playing with the 3D tool. Also I've done some 3D work and Scenery design for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Later I did a little work with a trial version Maja but I never really got anywhere with it.
Now (Blender)
Now I try to get going in the world of 3D once again this time using Blender. Blender started its life as commercial product, but now its a free OpenSource product awailable for many platforms (Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Free BSD). At the time of writing this the latest stable version is 2.49, but I am working with the 2.55 Beta version. Using Python scrips the functionallity of Blender can be expanded. Blender has its own build in Render Engine, and if you have several computers you can install Blender to all of them, and that way you can have all CPUs render your animations for a faster result.
